New Axle – Shorland’r Trailer

Was hoping my trailer issue was limited to the bearings but upon inspection I need an entire new axle. Fortunately nothing bad happened on the road and I was able to limp home in virtually one piece, but I’m grounded until I get a new axle.

So where do I pick one up? What are the good shops in town or should I order it in from Shoreland’r direct?

I’ve considered Rigid Hitch and have found a shop in Chippewa Falls using the Shoreland’r website. Any suggestions in the Twin Cities?

    Thanks,

    Eric

I forgot about brake and equipment warehouse, I’ve had good luck with them in the past. You should pull the other wheel off and measure the distance from center to center of the spring mounts and outside to outside of the hubs so you have some info when you call.

I replaced my Shorelander this spring. Northern tool had a couple in stock. Ended up with a round axle but that only meant I needed brackets for the springs that I didn’t need with the original. About $60.00 they were having a sale so I saved 15% on everything.

Just put a new one on my 2400 pound shorlandr about a month ago. I called shorlandr directly and they gave me a part number, then I ordered it through a local marine shop in my town, it was delivered to my house two days later, and was 260 with shipping. Took all of 45 minutes to install.

I have an axle off a 3000 lb yacht club trailer if by some miracle it fits your trailer. I beleive its 84″ long.

I replaced my axle on my shorelander last summer and it was right around 150 with new hubs and bearings. Shorelander makes you go through a dealer to order and i found a $150 mark up at one. So i would call a few. All you need is the serial number off your trailer and they can give a exact fit.

In 2005 I had Crystal Welding, Maple Grove, MN replace my Shorelander single axle with a Dexter axle. They did a great job.

I just replaced mine with one from fleet farm. Complete axle with hubs and all for $120. Did take some small modifications to mount to trailer.
