yes it is legal…i just got back from kabatogama state forest and superior national forest on lake vermilion and we camped on the free dnr sites out there…completely legal to do. just not the camp sites like father hennepin or any of those u have to pay at
I kinda thought so. But in th past, one would have to let the dnr know that you were camping in whatever state forest land just to make it “leagal”…. and now for obvious reasons that is not possible???
It depends on where u are thinking about doing your camping. Any state forest that has a pay/fee campground is going to have that campground closed because it is managed by state parks. Good luck.
