gas line

    my buddy is looking to bury a gas line to his garage. Can a person use normal copper or what does a person for underground? Thanks

    Copper for propane might be ok, check your local codes, but do not use it for natural gas! Very dangerous and a no, no.

    Copper is what the gas company used for years before the development of gas resistant plastics. Due to the high cost of copper plastic pipe rated for gas is the product of choice

    PS: One thing to keep in mind, if he buries a plastic line make sue to bury a coated piece of wire along side of the pipe so it can be located in the future.

    Copper can be used for natural gas in MN,it has to be a minnimum type L copper. No under ground Mechanical joints are allowed.
