For our honeymoon, she suggested (without any provication from me I might add) that we rent a cabin up North somewhere! This is where you guys come in. Right now we are looking at the Crane Lake area, but we are both open to different ideas. Any suggestions? This is for sometime next summer, thinking mid August to Mid September sometime. Yes there will be lots of fishing involved during the daylight hours that is. We most likely will need a place that will have boats available for rent. Thanks in advance.

Congrats, sounds like you are landing a keeper! If it’s during the fall period you would be hard pressed to beat the Ely or North Shore area. Great fishing and if the tree’s are turning you will get some great fall photo’s as well! Maybe take some tours on the ships in Duluth on the way through? Charter a boat for sightseeing as well. Maybe even a trip to Madelin Island?
Enjoy the honeymoon, I’m sure you will have many, many more memorable trips.

ChuckJuly 5, 2011 at 10:16 pm #978451Sounds like a good plan to me.
19 years for me and still going strong, and my honeymoon was on a small Northern WI lake cabin…

Good luck to you, sounds like it would be a great honeymoon.
July 6, 2011 at 10:05 am #978546I heard you should never let them eat wedding cake, something they put in it puts an end to things and changes how they think.
July 6, 2011 at 1:08 pm #978573Check out Gunflint Lodge. They have romantic cabins , but you can also hire fishing guides or have access to all of their boats. Great restaurant and great staff.

Trust me, she is only saying what she thinks you want to hear. I’ve been down this road and you gotta believe me when I tell you that you will regret doing this for the rest of your life! You will NEVER hear the end of it as to how you spent your honeymoon in the sticks rather than some tropical romantic get-away….LIKE ALL HER FRIENDS did for their honeymoon.
You will have many many many opportunities to stay in a cabin up north, but if you do that for your honeymoon you will always look like a hick in the eyes of her friends and family and will never live down the fact that you were too ignorant to read her mind and too cheap to take her where she really wanted to go, like Hawaii or the Carribean.
For your own sake heed my WARNING!!! You will be a happier man later if you do.
