I heard they were holding one at the rest stop…..

    Had to get in too…

Seriously, CARGILL had some great courses, back when I worked for them…. not sure if they subcontracted for them or not, but it was some of the best spent time in a classroom I ever had. If anybody works for CARGILL, maybe they would know.

If you are looking to get certified in project management I would suggest you look at PMI certification. I work in IT and the technology changes so quickly that I would be real leary of learning a process/methodology that was tightly coupled to a specific technology.

In the last five years where I work we have dabbled in RUP, Agile with scrum and an in house flavor of SDLC.

I’m currently at St. Paul College for my computer programming degree. I know they have certificate courses as well as degrees for IT Project Management. Check around, most colleges offer them.

There are several project management-related courses (and of course a project management course) that are part of the MIS program curriculum at Augsburg College.

If you are looking for PMP certification you could call Augsburg to see if that is something they offer; I haven’t gotten that far yet.

    Good luck!

I was just curious if anyone knew of any specific PM Cert that was better then others, i can’t really find too much info on it so far.

I have 11 years network/server engineering experience, just looking to make the move into business management portion of the industry.

I have done a number of the American Management Assoc. seminars and work shops. Very pleased with what I learned and walked away with.

    PHIGS,
I work in the tech field also. Most of the certified project managers I’ve worked with over the years were certified by the Project Management Institute. PMP is one of their certifications. Here is their website.

I can also vouch for PMI (Project Mgt Institute) as the recognized leader in globaly recognized PM certification.
I have been PMP certified since 2005.

Save yourself some money and just follow the secretary around for a couple hours. You will learn everything you need to know about project management.

Now for any PMs out there (I’m sure you are in a meeting trying to get statuses right now), I’m only joking. PMs add overhead…I mean value to projects.

    Suzuki,
That explains some things. Like.. reserving the tables at Borderline for Croix GTG and being the first person to get there.
