Which bumpers are the best to use while your boat is docked, the flat pads or the rounds air filled. Need to buy a set and storage could be an issue. Protection is the most important however.
as always thanks for the advice.

The darn bumpers filled with air never seem to be hanging in the right spot. I’ve lost a couple due to the dock “lifting” them up and unhooking from the slot that holds them. (Lund)

If I could, I would use the pads and place them on the dock to protect the boat.

With the new boat I’ve been scared to death and can’t sleep when the boat was parked at the dock. I’ve got 2 flat bumpers that I really like. At the in-laws I used my two flat bumpers on my boat and put 2 air filled ones on the dock. Still didn’t sleep great but the boat survived the weekend without a scratch.

It’s important to have the bumper on the boat and not on the dock. The bumper mounted on the dock will rub on the boat as it moves with the waves. With the bumper on the boat it moves with the boat and does not wear on the paint on the boat. Ask Tom P, we experienced this on our week long fishing trip and over the week the bumper on the dock did wear on the boat. Hard way to learn a lesson.

Just depends on the situation if you have a dock space of your own i put mine in the middle tied from 4 corners, if im tied to a one sided dock left or right side, but prefer drivers side, I use 4 bumpers 2 on the boat & 2 on the dock, If its a windy day or week i dock with my my bow into the wind & trim up I/O or outboard! I set my bumpers as such…..Bumpers on the boat touching the water….Bumpers on the dock out of the water! I use good quality rope & bumpers, 3/8’s rope works great…..stay away from Nylon rope (ski type) cause thats all its good for! My Dad was a Navy man & always took pride on how our boat looked at the dock & made sure that it was secured correctly….love & miss ya Dad….Happy 4th of July to all you IDOer’s & God bless our TROOPS! I’ve had a few mishaps at the docks but it’s always been the drivers fault!! hehe!!
