It’s electric opposed to hydrolic, which helps for some boats that might not have room in the battery/storage area for more equipment. Works well for flats and other small boats that would be more electric oriented and have an open design.

The mounting bracket to me seems kind of flimsy as well…

If you’re comparing it to Power Pole, another factor is that when pp are deployed, they are completly submerged, not true with the Talon – you always have that base casing up in the air…might be a factor for some, maybe not for others….

just a few thoughts from what i’ve seen….

Great points, exactly what I was looking for. With that case in the air it might be possible to forget it is down and take off…

How much for a power pole and istall roughly?

The new mounting brackets for the Talon have been beefed up and are much stronger.

The Talon is quick and easy to install. I’ll be doing a video on the install of mine here in the next week and will post it.

In regards to taking off when the spike is still deployed, with the Talon you can wire it to your starting battery, so when you turn the key, if the spike is deployed a warning sound will go off.

I have been looking at them for about a month. Advantages and disadvantages to both it seems. A couple of things that are pretty factual, the Talon is cheaper, and the Power Pole has a long proven fact record. Tough choice, I still really don’t know which one I would choose.

Other things to consider, you can install the Talon yourself so no money to a dealer.

2x the holding power compared to the Power Pole.

I’ll let ya know when I’m coming through LAX next and you can check it out.
