“Backwater Eddy” I’m surprised he wasn’t or maybe he was a member here being the hard-core Cat-fishermen he was. Just a real helpful friendly guy on the net.
RIP! Ed and may the kitties be large and abundant in your new resting place!

Shocking. Eddie touch many many people with his fishing knowledge.

I believe he worked at the Gander Mountain Fishing Dept.

Thanks for the notice Suzuki; this completely blindsided me too.

I had the priviledge of getting to know Ed personally over the course of the last year; only regret that we never got around to going fishing together.

His presence within the fishing community would remind you a lot of someone else who’s well-known and highly-respected on this site.

    – You only had to meet him once; he knew you and recognized you anytime anyplace from there everafter.

    – He knew what gear and techniques were most effective in the Fargo area and was willing to share that knowledge with anyone who was willing to learn.

    – He knew the other businesses (resorts and such) in the area who provided good service to outdoorsmen and was quick to recommend them

    – He had a knack for being amongst the first to discover and use newer and/or lesser-known outdoor gear; and when he found anything that he beleived worked well, he was a tireless promoter of it.

All he ever expected in return was the same friendship that he so freely extended.

We’ll miss you Ed on the Red, you were truly one of the good guys.

Backwater Eddy indeed had a place here on IDO back when it was “Fishtheriver.com”, and I remember talking cats with him on occasion. Sad news, young kids to boot!

Backwater Eddy was a great angler who knew cats and walleye.
I met him here at FTR when I first started playing on the net.
We crossed paths online at several websites and I had the priviledge of fishing with him on several occasions as well.
He was one of my mentors and was the person who encouraged me to pursue a profession as a catman.
He shared his great knowledge of the sport wherever he could and was a professional in all sense of the term and a legend at that.
I called him a good friend and he will be dearly missed.
