OK, let’s limit this to terminal tackle.

    What is your favorite knot?

Criteria would be knot strength and ease of tying (blindfolded).

I tie an improved clinch, but it doesn’t meet either of the above criteria.

If I were to vote naively, I guess I’d go Palomar…

I”m with Ryan on this.If I can tie a Palomar I will. Its has a proven track record and even a blind man can tie it in the dark.

trilene knot for everything except for attaching two lines together (leadcore, monobacking, etc) then i use a blood knot.

isn’t the trilene knot a variation of an improved clinch with a double pass thru the eyelet?? just asking…

The Palomar is a great knot, but according to Knot Wars and some factory sites the exception is Flouro…but the good old Trilene knot works well on all!

I use a Trilene knot for all my terminal knots, braid, mono or flouro…haven’t had a knot fail in a long time. Just habit I suppose

Knot wars said the Palomar was the best knot, exept for flouro. Saw it in Field and Stream in 68 or 69 and been using it ever since. Not once has the knot failed.

I was, for several years, using a surgeons knot with braided line. 3 of those with an overhand behind it. Never had a failure. Now I use a palimar with an overhand behind it on braids, just because it is easier.I use the improved clinch on mono and fluro.

Any through the eye twice will be a stronger knot. Palomar works for mono, flouro or braid. However, for braid you might want to do a double Palomar. Fish-n-fool knot beat the palomar on strength, it is a through the eye twice and then a uni-knot. However, the Berkley Braid beat them all on Knot Wars.

The knot I tie with fluoro I am not sure has a name. It is very similar to a uni knot except you loop the line back through the eye again in the same direction. Then you wind the tag end 3-4 times up around the doubled line through the loop away from the lure. Moisten and tighten by pulling the end attached to the reel. Then cinch both ends and trim. Wastes very little tag end and is solid. Otherwise I use a palomar with everything else.

10X. I can tie this knot in the dark, and with superlines like Power Pro, you can’t go wrong.

Yes, which doubles the line at the weakest point…causin the knot to surpass the pound test of the line.
