Just found this on the web…. I’ve never used the Trigger X (nor have I used Gulp Alive that much), but this looks pretty cool. Looks like a neat research project. The results look good, I might have to try this stuff…

Anyone else have good experiences with Trigger X??

The big problem with the video is it not done by an independent source. If you are doing “research” on your own product, of course it’s going to work well. This is nothing more than an infomercial.

Now, with that said, I have used Trigger X and think it a nice addition to anyone’s collection of plastic baits.

The stuff catches fish….but I don’t buy it anymore because it bonds to itself and then tears when you try to separate the baits. I have wasted dozens of these things at $6/bag.

Has there EVER been “research” done on any fishing or hunting project that has been done by an independent source??? what would be the motivation to spend the money or any time?? Is there a FDA and DEA for fishing and hunting projects?? I believe it is the consumers job to filter all the “infomercials” whether it be a new fishing product or even a drug that is prescribed by your doctor.

Do you run out and grab every lure that pros and advertisers shove down your throat? (Doug Stange ah, hem) I hope there is always a filter on, but then again that is why we have marketing degrees out there.

The retention times / data is very interesting…. Not sure how you can bias that aspect of it, unless you are fudging your results on purpose…. I don’t think Jason would ever… EVER…. even think about doing that…

Overall, I love watching walleyes inhale jigs!!!

If it’s not research, don’t call it research.

I bought some bags of it.The crawlers work great on spinner rigs. The paddle tails are too firm for my liking.
This is a very nice infomercial. Some of the best marketing I have seen since the banjo minnow.

It was research. you called it an infomercial. do you know what the definition of research is? I could chew 2 flavors of gum, report on the findings and call it research and not be lying.

I think most of us know what this is all about.

I got some Walleye Paddletails from Dean last year and didn’t care for the stiffness/slime…had so/so results.

but that was not the new formula stuff…

I was turned on to the Aggression Grubs and Tubes by Chris Beeksma in May up on Cheq Bay and they have worked great so far for bass…no sticking together etc…

Jason has always been a stand up guy and has a PHD in Biology. Combine that with his fishing skills, and I think he’ll do well with producing/improving Trigger X.

All that said,I have not used the product yet. But, I’ll probably try it and compare to other similar products.

Very nice, just watching them hang on to the baits forever is cool. Think regardless of the brand, plastics are only going to get better.

Here are some pictures Jason sent me of his trip to Holland. Look at that last picture & he said 4-5 lb. perch are the very common over there. I’ve used Trigger X on the River & on numerous lake around the up midwest & I can say the stuff works great.

Thats a fact Doc…During the course of a season guiding Bass fisherman about 70% of my techniques include plastics,
20% Cranks/spinnerbaits and 10% topwater lures. Since I have learned to ply deeper water and heavier cover with jigs/plastics, Carolina and Texas rigs my catches and overall size have improved dramatically.

In my experience, in the lab and in the field, under a wide array of conditions, Trigger X baits work extremely well!

I like the stuff I have had limited use with it but can atest that on the local metro lakes the trigger x crawlers are second to none when fighting off hungrey 3 inch gills! I must say those picks from holland are awsome and I can see a trip in the makings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And also must ask what is going onin the perch pic, seems like a boat load of jigs everywhere and some rod holder I’ve not seen?

Ben, I can also tell trigger x works great on fighting off those pesky little perch on Mille lacs.

Ben, live bait is not allowed in many places in Holland. They have taken fishing with plastics for zander (walleye) to an entirely new level relative to how we use them in the states. We have a LOT to learn from some of the top zander guys in Europe.

I believe the circular shape you’re referring to is actually a microphone holder on top of a video camera. We filmed a variety of short pieces to be used in Holland and Germany, and the cameraman’s camera is present in the bottom of that perch frame.

Looks like that Holland guy ran a Lund… Those moveable Sportrac brackets/track come in handy for lots of stuff.

    Thanks for the pics, Jason…
