Smith Optics Guides Choice. I just set a personal record for longevity with these things. Of course very lucky I havent lost or crushed them. Banged them up pretty good. Awsome glasses.

Expensive, but awesome. Glass lens won’t scratch like plastic… (And if it does, they will replace the lenses). Good eye insurance policy against boomerang jigs and spinnerbaits…

Costa all the way!!!! $’s well spent – Green Mirror 580 glass – Best for sight fishing

I went through this myself about a year ago. I have fished with Ron and can atest that his Solar Bat sunglasses work very well. But, if you are like me and need perscription sunglasses you really should go through your optomitrist like I did. I ended up buying a pair of Maui Jim’s and could not be happier. So happy I bought the wife a pair. Earned alot of get out of the dog house points…..

Ditto on the Costa Del Mar sunglasses. If you hang ’em on a strap around your neck you won’t lose ’em or sit on ’em. They’ll last for years.

    Priced from low to high:
    Solar Bat
    Peppers
    Costa Del Mar
    Maui Jim

    All are fine choices.
    Really impressed with the Costas.

i wear the oakley half jacket fishing specific glasses…$180 is what they cost and would value them more than that. i have forgotten them 1 time fishing in 2 years and was a total bummer. won’t do that again!

I wear Costa Del Mar Fathoms, 580 glass in Green Tint. They are very sweet! I’ve been a high end sunglasses guy for a very long time. Once you pay the money, you’ll know why this post is littered with guys recommending high end glasses.

I fought the good fight trying to cheap my way around spending the money on a good pair for years. I can’t recall the straw the broke the camel’s back but about 5 years ago I ponied up for a pair of 580’s. Been wearing, and loving, the same pair ever since.

On my second pair of Costa 580’s, but that’s only because I sold my last pair (too small for my melon). I’m wearing the Man O War’s in 580 green mirror, and I’ll never look back. Having, then going without, makes your eyes beg for them.

I have two pairs of Costas and love them both. Both with 580 glass lenses, but different colors. If you look around on e-bay, you can find them for under $150.

I think if you are looking for some affordable glasses I’d look at Flying Fisherman. Everyone in my family has a pair and personally I have two pairs of Santa Fe’s and a pair of Tortuga.

I’ve had a pair of Maui Jim Volcanos for just about 10 years. They have gray lenses. I had the lenses replaced (70.00) and a couple other repairs over the years. They have unreal service (had glasses back in about a week including mail time each time).

I just bought another pair of Maui Jim Peahi’s. These have a bronze lense. The gray lense is better for sunny days, the bronze lense for cloudy or low light conditions.

Whatever you get, make sure to get a lanyard to keep them around your neck. If you spend big money on glasses, you’ll take better care of them.

Another nice thing about Costa Del Mar is the service and warranty. I had a pair for over 8 years and broke them ( My fault ) contacted them and they said that model is no longer available – They gave me the highest price they charged for them in credit twards a different pair – added a few $’s and got the new 580’s – Liked the originals a lot – loved the new one’s. From the date I dropped the broken pair in the mail until I received the replacement pair was less than a week. They can now count me as a lifetime customer.
