How would a state shut down effect state parks?

I am a week away from heading up to Zipple Bay state park for another 5 day weekend of fishing and I am starting to get a little nervous about this shut down thing. Will the parks be closed? Accesses and all or will they just not be patrolled? Does it effect state forests as well?

I believe the state parks will have their gates closed and locked.

    Get nervous.

The shutdown would result in closure of the state’s parks, highway pit stops and public universities, affect 36,000 state employees. In anticipation of the shutdown, Minnesota sent on Friday layoff notices to state workers.

That’s what they are saying is going to happen, now its is up to a judge to see what is important enough to remain open or working.
Now I need to decide if I need to buy my truck tabs that expire at the end of July

It is interesting that a judge gets that authority.

I believe as of July 1st their gates would be locked. Also, I thought the ‘essential’ employees were already decided to be maintenance and safety/security personnel? …although I also thought state patrol officers received layoff notices?

I’m just adding to the conversation with hearsay… maybe I need to pay more attention to my own signature.

That does make sense since the states fiscal year starts July 1st.

Per my State rep which I e-mailed a week ago

All state parks will be closed for business.

Public employees do many many things. I’d not be surprised to see the teachers go on strike this fall here, or the snow plows to not plow snow.

Exactly, that’s why I pay over 6 big ones every year in property taxes
