I bought a 1979 25hp Johnson with electric start. I don’t have a manual. The motor was used as a remote but still has a tiller. I will use it as a tiller. The starter engages and cranks away smothly. I can’t get it to spark. There must be an on/off switch I can’t figure out. I need a hint. Thanks for any help.
pull one of the plugs, stick it in the socket and ground the arm of the spark gap to see if it’s sparking. check it to see how clean it is also.
if it’s not sparking you’ve got tune up issues and none of them are too difficult. I think that’s a point motor, so cleaning, adjusting or replacing would be the first order of business.
