It finally happened, I hit a dead head on the river. It left a pretty good mark about 2-3ft. long and took some of the paint. It doesn’t leak but is about .25 to .125 deep. Is this something I should get fixed or just touch up with some paint? This sucks but I guess if you fish enough it is going to happen some time.

1/8″ to a 1/4″ deep ‘eh? I would go with fix it. It’s aluminum, easy fix

Depending on the boat, and yours looks like it is in good shape, I’d fix it. Just do it when it works best for you.

Besides what’s the worst that could happen?

i was assuming you were going to take time off from fishing to repair it… silly idea.

If you’ve got a down season, fix it then…

thanks for the input, that brings the next question. Does anyone recommend a shop to do the repairs? I think I am going to do some research and do it this fall . Thanks

Does it effect how the boat preforms? If it does get it fixed. If insurance covers it get it fixed. If its a older well used boat maybe just let it go.

We have a boat repair place in ham lake on hwy 65 that does a ton of aluminum repairs but would imagine there must be some place closer. Cant remember the name of the place as I haven’t had to use it yet but with all the time spent on the river Im sure my day is coming.
