Delayed on a background check?

So, I was at Scheels this evening trying to get an H&R Ultra Slug- got deer on the brain for some reason, and my background check was delayed for some reason. Anybody have an idea why? I have no felony convictions to mention and have purchased firearms in the passed. I was pretty sore about the issue and ended up walking out with a new Redfield Revolution scope, pretty sweet. But I just was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and might have an idea why I was flagged. Thanks!

That same thing has happened to me and I was told at that time its because very now and then they look into the app. and verify everything. You just got lucky and your app. was picked. Don’t worry about it if your a sraight shooter you will get your gun. I’m willing to bet you will get a call today to come pick up your gun that everything went threw ok.

The last 2 guns that I have bought I have had the same thing happen. Other than the inconvience of having to go back, it was no big deal. The guys I bought from said prob what is happening is that someone with a name close to mine is causing problems.

I was often delayed, less so lately. One store operator told me I had two factors that increased the chances of that happenning. A common name and a lack of miltary service.

I used to get delayed all the time. There was a guy with the same name who was a felon. It hasn’t happened lately though.

Happened to me once and for the last 3 guns, no issues.

Must be the system on how they check. I would believe one little question on thier part and then it takes more digging to get it straightened out.

A carry permit or even a purchase permit will stop that happening.

There are numerous reasons why you might get delayed. Has nothing to do with you. I use to work at a sporting goods store, and have seen 100’s of people delayed. Some have the same name as other people that aren’t quite on the up and up, and others you just don’t know why. I had a time earlier this year that I bout my 9 yo daughter a shot gun, no problem. Went back a couple weeks later to buy my son a shot gun, and they delayed me. Just so happens that they called back before I left the store. It’s funny some times.

Never had a problem. Also, didn’t know you needed a background check to buy a ‘long’ gun Thought it was for handguns….
