It is the best thing since the sanctions on USC. Now, if we can just get rid of Notre Dame all would be right with the world.
I am enjoying it – with Nebraska entering the B1G it will definitely be interesting.
Very disappointed to see the arrogance of the program, AD, coach and players and especially all the morals that the vest supposedly stand for were compromised. He should have applied those morals about 6 months earlier and resigned prior to the bowl game knowing the facts he (allegedly) knew…

…maybe he would still have his job…

Definitely interesting. It may get even more interesting before it is all said and done.

I believe if you dig hard enough at any D1 school, you are going to find violations. That being said, OSU’s were fairly extreme. The fact the coach and A.D. knew about them and tried to sweep it under the rug for a while should result in both of them losing their jobs, and they should not be allowed to hold the same position at a D1 school for 5 years or something. I guess the vest didn’t signify that Tressel had nothing up his sleeve.
I agree 100% John. Most all programs have something to hide. I like your idea of having to sit out for some years. These guys get canned and hop right back in. They should need to at least be punished the same as the university is for what they did. If the U has a 3 year scholarship restriction of any kind the coach needs to sit out for that same timeframe. Of course, they would then just jump to the NFL.
I’m not enjoying it because it’s just another blip in the road. A VERY minor blip compared to the millions of dollars raked in while they were in business and will continue to rake in starting in a couple of years again.
Until some penalties come out with some teeth, this is a one-season event for OSU.
They’ll still be able to attract a top flight coach, top flight recruits, and two years from now, this will be a non-event.
The NCAA, IMO, needs to start hanging these penalties on BOTH the schools and the coaches. As in Tressel would now be ineligible to coach for 2-3 seasons at any level.
The point I’m trying to make is that the risk is well worth the penalty. Tressel and OSU made millions of dollars, and will have a 1 year slap for it. If you told me I could cheat to make $20 million plus over 10 years and if caught, I’d lose my job for a year……….phtttt! Not even a question!

First of all, you’re right, not even a question…I still wouldn’t do it (cheat.)
Second, I don’t think this is just a 1 year thing. Currently it is a 5 game suspension for the players (Tressel too, technically), but from the rumblings I’ve heard and the things they’ve uncovered since the original 5 game suspension, I don’t think that is the end of it. Pryor may never see the field again as a NCAA student athlete. I think OSU will have even more stringent sanctions than USC (not that theirs were overly tough). Due to the length of time the scandals took place, the extent they took place, and the attempted cover up (especially this), OSU may very well get dinged on this one.

Go Hawks…
it is too bad about the kids, only takes a prima donna like pryor to ruin things…too bad tressell chose to look the other way!
