Muskie Mayhem

I was out fishing with my buddy teasing his kid that he was going to get pulled out of the boat when he caught a giant muskie. Well a few minutes later my buddy hooks into a gigantic 55″ Muskie. After the long 20-25 min battle he managed to get it close enough to net it. The fish was caught as we were fishing spinners for walleyes. He was using Berkely gulp crawlers on a homemade spinner with 8lb Berkely triline. Who needs $25 Muskie lures when you can use gulp, haha.

It was a pretty crazy fight and then trying to get it in the walleye net was another story.

It will have to look good on the wall, because the release was not successful. I think the long battle with the light rods must have taken a toll on it. Oh well it happens, plenty more in the lake where this one came from.

i was just givin u a hard time. good 2 hear u tried to release it. it happens to the best of us and prolly was because of the long fight. no big deal and i understand every1 has the right to keep any legal fish.

Yes we actual just started fishing and boated a 20″ after ten minutes there. The next fish was a 26″ about ten minutes later, then the beast came about 15 minutes after the 26″. We released both walleyes and left after we got the Muskie. The taxidermist measured the fish at 36″ on the button and weighed just under 35lbs. It will be a hefty mount fee for that girl.

That fish looks bigger than 36″. Do you mean 56? Very nice fish.
