Any way this can be done with reliable results, short of taking it to a shop??

Not recommended…even from a shop. Wrap up the extra use a zip lock and stow the extra away in someplace out of the way.

I know it can be done, but you’ll lose reliability.

As Brain already mentioned, not recomended! I’ve had them where I only needed a few feet and did just what was mentioned, neatly wire tied together and tucked away.

It was a good suggestion, but I think you are giving him a little too much credit calling him “Brain”.

Like mentioned wrap up the excess out of the way, but dont wind the cable to tight or bend it to sharp. That will cause more problems.

Why not loop it and zip tie it (6in to 12in long), it is a shielded cable?

Stick it in a spinning prop… then go buy the length you really need
