Why would you want a transducer on a trolling motor when you all ready have one on transom?. What are the advantages to have one on?.I thought a transom transducer cover every thing under the boat and more. I have an extra HB-570 that i don’t used.

I for one sit in the front of my boat more than the rear so for me having it built in to my TM is a definite need for following contours and trails off my HDS unit

unless you are in 100 feet of water or so, your transom transducer cone doesn’t reach the front of the boat. Sometime drop a big jig down right below your rear transducer so you can see it on your locator near the bottom. Then move forward along the side of the boat and wait for it to disappear. If you are in about 15 feet of water, you won’t make it 5 feet and you will no longer see the jig.

If I’m jigging from the front, I like to know what’s right under me. I also like to be able to watch my jig on the locator to see how close to bottom I am and if there are any interested fish following it.

on a very steep break the front of the boat can be in 10ft and the back of the boat can be 20 or 30 ft deep. lets u know when u come up on something quick b4 the motor goes over it. i also do a lot of fishing from the front of the boat and this is the only way 2 go!

Like the others said, If you fish from the front of your boat it is really nice to have one. I don’t have one on my trolling motor right now, and it sucks because I constantly have to turn around to look at my graph at the console. I have been thinking about running the LX-5 flasher with a puck on my trolling motor, it should be really awesome for vertical jigging or drop shotting.
