A vote on Constitutional Carry is scheduled for (Wednesday) at 1:30pm in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

This is a key vote that must pass to move our bill closer to having a full Senate vote.

I do want to inform you that an amendment has been attached to the bill and will be included in the vote today. This amendment will add an optional permit that will only be needed for reciprocity with other states.

What this means is that everyone in Wisconsin will be free to conceal carry with no permit but you will have the option to get a permit that can be accepted in other states that require permits to carry.

I have read the amendment and it does not stop anyone from exercising their Constitutional Carry rights in Wisconsin without a permit and does not allow public or police officers’ access to the optional permit records. Police may only access permit records to validate a permit holder.

Today is a key day and we must get this vote passed!

Will you help us get this bill moving in the Senate?

We need you to contact the members of the Judiciary Committee and tell them to vote yes on SB-93. Tell them Constitutional Carry is your right and you demand that it be restored.

As I have said before, permit carry is simply a step in the wrong direction.

Constitutional Carry is the only clear choice that restores the rights of the people and does not increase invasion of government into our personal lives.

To make Constitutional Carry a reality we must keep up the pressure.

We must get Constitutional Carry passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

They wrote it so that a permit will not be required? No training or screening? This is horrible news. It’s set up for failure. Or am I missing something?

Keep in mind Mike that WI is set up now where anyone (almost) can strap on a handgun and walk openly in the streets with it. Making a person have training and/or a permit seems like moving backwards knowing this.

Right. That law has been around but nobody exercises it. People would be alarmed. We need C&C there. Allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry to pack is not the answer. At least not one acceptable by the majority. I hope it passes but I just dont see it happening. Letting every hood in Milwaukee start packing legally? No way.

I didn’t have time to read the whole bill, but we have to always remember that the criminals are already packing and they don’t care if it is legal or not. We need to be concerned about letting everyone else have the chance to do it also.

if you can legally purchase and own a handgun, then one has to assume, that person is not a criminal.

therefore, you are not letting “every hood” in milwaukee carry a gun. because if they can’t legally carry them today, then this law passing, does not allow them to legally carry tomorrow.

    make sense?

tighter restrictions always have and always will affect Joe Citizen more than the criminal. because criminals don’t follow the laws anyhow.

I think the point is there will now be 1,000’s upon 1,000’s of people, mostly untrained in hand guns now having concealed weapons. And just because a person doesn’t have a criminal record doesn’t mean he isn’t a criminal or more importantly an anti government, anti law-enforcement, anti EVERYTHING mad at the world buffoon.

Personally I’d rather have a training course, like the one you and I have taken to be a prerequisite for carrying a loaded, concealed hand gun.

    But thats just me.

Its pretty clear, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed! It says nothing about begging big brother for a permit!

There are also 1000s and 1000s of us who have been around firearms all our lives- including military training. Do we need to beg for a permit? Do we need to spends are hard earned money on classes? By putting it in the hands of government is pretty much saying a poor person isn’t allowed to protect their family.

Now that being said, lets have some faith in our fellow citizens. That a good number of them will seek training anyway.

regarding open carry and the statement that no one exercises that right in Wisconsin. Nothing could be further from the truth. I exercise that right everyday.

Don’t get too bent out of shape about this just yet. This is the judiciary committee. If the have an up vote all it means is that the vote goes to the senate where it will be loaded with options and likely include a permit clause.

Madison – Wisconsin residents would be allowed to carry concealed weapons without getting permits or any training under a bill a Senate committee approved Wednesday, and the lead sponsor of the measure said she supported allowing people to bring guns into the state Capitol.

The vote came the same day an email from a top aide to Gov. Scott Walker was released that said as of six months ago Walker was prepared to sign “any” concealed weapons legislation. The email was written before the idea was proposed to allow people to carry hidden guns without permits, and Walker said Wednesday he would have to review whatever comes to him before deciding whether to sign it.

I hope the Governor signs this into law.
