Sounds like a great time to be had Tom. Can you tell me of a resonable hotel-motel close by? May be, just maybe, the water is at decent levels. Sure hope I can make it

The river is shaping up nicely! The bite has been pretty good and should only get better. The Panfish division this year should be a good one. I already have a couple places that I know I’ll be hitting and where there’s Panfish there’s usually some nice Bass and Pike hanging out.

If you are worried about not having fished Pool 7 before, don’t be…..it’s a small pool and I’d be very willing to share a few places to try.

I know Jesse Krook drove down from the cities with no knowledge of Pool 7 and he walked away with biggest rough fish honors, so anything is possible!

Anybody is welcome to come out and fish for a few hours. There’s always something to eat & drink afterwards.

Another thing to keep in mind is the landing being used for this event makes for a short trip into the famous Lake Onalaska

I’ll take guff for that tid bit at the after party

Not only is the Lake in an eye shots view, there are countless wingdams, rip rap shorelines and points, backwater sloughs, bays and weed edges to hit.

I’m looking forward to spending the morning in my floater with Drew H. for the first time. I also look forward to meeting the old gang and any new comers to this event

This here is a fine Perch my Dad caught flipping banks for Bass. Not at all what we were expecting, but a lot of fun just the same.

Not a toad but a healthy 16inch fish, and there were a number of them that wanted to play today

The tandem willow blade spinner sportin’ a white skirt and K grub might not be a bad bait to have in your arsenal for this event. The bait caught pike while being pulled through eel grass and green fish in new cabbage, all in 2-4fow.

I also had a few blow ups using a rabbit being pulled across a few weed mates. The rabbit bite should only heat up and get better!

A Gold Johnson weedless with a K grub also caught a few of the toothy critters.

I see the bite on Pool 7 shaping up nicely for this event

We fished pool 7 hard yesterday afternoon. A lot of casting and not a lot of hook-ups. We did manage a few small pike, a couple of smallies, and one fat LM. We both are novices to pool 7, and we spent time exploring some really cool waters. It is amazing how some of the sloughs and chutes can go from 2 feet of water to 15-20 feet nearly instantly. The highlight was hooking up with an absolute bohemouth of a pike. That wise cracker pulled out all the tricks to get unbuttoned. It pulled us to wood, weeds, and tail-danced before spittin’ a spinnerbait. This pig was absolutely pushing the 40″ mark. Such is fishing. We hope things turn around for us by tourney time.

We got out on the water for a couple hours last night and my Dad put this one in the boat.

If you look real close at his right eye you might be able to see where I smoked him with a senko when I set the hook. Glad that bait didn’t have any lead weight on it or we may have been heading for the hospital….

Basic Rules: Be there by 6am or be late. Weigh-in is at noon. $10 per person with kids under 16 fishing for free. You can have as many people as your boat will legally hold. last year we had 2 pontoons with one of them holding about 6 people. They brought in some nice Catfish!

The water’s on the rise and the fish are biting! My Daughter and I slipped out for a quick couple hours of fishing tonight. We put a bunch of Bass and one lonely Pike in the boat.

I watched a LM Bass roll on some fry about 10ft on front of the boat and no more than 30 seconds later I had that chunky fella flopping in the boat. It was a very cool chain of events!!!!

Not sure. With the higher than normal water conditions right now I’m guessing it should be pretty good with most fish stacked in the current seams.
