Can you dip rubber bass crawlers into a scent and get them to compete with real worms on walleye rigs??

    good question…

I pitched trigger X crawlers on jigs last year on a few occassions and still have yet to catch an eye on them….I’m gonna keep trying though.

I prefer gulp crawlers on spinner harnesses. They also work well on jigs.

Gulp crawlers last longer and I’ve noticed no difference in the number of bites … except that I catch more fish with the gulp crawlers because I spent more time fishing and less time putting crawlers on the hook!

Also, I haven’t tried the trigger X crawlers. I prefer the look of the Gulp version and see no reason to switch.

I read quite a few posts last year about guys using the trigger x or the gulp crawlers on spinners. I’m going to give it a try this year. Hopefully it will keep the pests from stealing my crawler all the time

If you are fishing for eyes- absolutely not, been there, tried that on multiple bodies of water. Unless you are in heavy-heavy weeds, or some serious flow with clarity issues-real crawlers are going to outfish anything on the market or about to be on the market. My opinion, and that’s all it is-

I’ve found on mille lacs, Gulp on spinner rigs helps prevent perch snatchin your worm off and we have caught a bunch of eyes. just as many on real worms too. I think they all have a time and a place.

Any body tried soaking Moxi’s or other paddletails in the Gulp scenting solution to see if it helps??
