I find the topic embarrassing,,,,getting my butt kicked by a bunch of weeds every spring. I hate taking pills so I tend to suffer for a couple weeks every year. Wondering what has worked for others with minimal side effects.

    thanks

Nothing to be embarrassed about in my opinion. Hay fever kicks my hinder every fall right after the first series of cold nights. Claritin helps but doesn’t provide a complete “cure.”

I’m getting kicked right now too. This is a few weeks later than usual for me. I work outdoors and needed to find something. I take an over the counter med called “Chlorpheniramine Maleate” dries me up for 3-4 hours and does not make me feel tired. Walgreens sells it under the name “Wal-Finate”. Good Luck!

My bride use to have big time issues with hay fever.

She said for 2 years she got a shot and now all is well.

Zyrtec rocks. It’s spendy, but it’s available generic, now. Look for certirizine HCl. Most pharmacies will have a store brand. Non-drowsy and it has worked better than any other allergy med I have tried (Claritin, Clarinex, Allegra).

yeah walgreens has generic zyrtec in a a big bottle. At least the price is as small as the effect is with these.

Mucinex D is the most effective thing I’ve found. Especially overnight. Benadryll still works but the way they can make you tired is irritating. Flushing your nose out with saline is very cheap to do and no drugs. If your runny nose goes on too long it helps keep you from gettign a sinus infection and being miserable for longer.

My wife has had serious allergies since middle school. She would double dose claritin and it would barely help. We’d go through boxes and boxes of kleenex in a week. But, last spring she finally got cured (basically).

She went to Allergy Associates of LaCrosse. I’m not affiliated in any way, but it has been just short of a miracle for her/us. It was a simple process of testing what exactly she was allergic to and at what levels. Then, they put together a series of drops that she puts under her tongue in the morning. Bam! Has been symptom free since! Now she has no excuse to mow! We highly recommend taking a look at this place if you are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Allegra works for me and is now available without a prescription. One of my employees gets a shot once or twice a year and that works for him without pills.
