When we upgraded boats last year, it came with a Cobra Marine band Radio. Just wondering what channels are popular or most used. I am not out to eavesdrop and try to find anyone’s secret spot, just curious as to how many people use them and for what purpose. I would also like to know the channel for Emergencys, DNR, Police, etc.. The few times that I have had it turned on, it was pretty quiet. Maybe i am supposed to have it set to scan all channels? Thanks in advance for the help.

Tom, it’s varies some what to the area your boating.

On the Mississippi Ch 14 is used by the Lock Operators
Ch 13 by the tows although they are monitoring 14/16 too.
Ch 16 on the holidays or when ever the sheriff is out. This includes the St Croix.

Ch 16 is the normal call channel, then move to another channel.

Mille Lacs is 68 (I think)

    Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the information guys. Most of our time is P4 with a couple weeks on Cass in the fall.

On the Great Lakes we hail Dave Mull when searching for other GLAngler.com members.

Only fitting we hail James Holst for other IDO members, right.
