Fished Grindstone for browns and rainbows on Saturday. Lost one at the boat and had a hit on a little cleo, other than that nothing buy wind and rain and cold.

Sunday was a great day to be on Pool 2 with many fish coming to the boat. Almost all my fish came on hair-jigs and a couple in backwaters cuts on reef runners. Wind was a challenge, but overall one of my better openers!

Kicked back and watched it rain Saturday, but had good fishing Friday night and Sunday day.

Nothing to write home to Mom about, but still good fishing with great people. Report to follow tonight.

    ..and not one walleye!!

It’s always fun fishing with Mike W We scratched out a few Walleyes and Saugers in the rain and wind.

2011 will go down as one of my more memorable openers. 40+ walleyes. 7 over 20″- biggest 28″. All 19″ and up were put back. A few 14-18″ were kept, but great majority are waiting for me again.

Sounds like your group had a great outing in less than favorable conditions.

    Way to hang in there.

I stayed home and worked on the honey do this. Next week it’s off to Rainy lake for 5 days for myself and a few good friends.

The Chapman Clan went up to Chappy’s trailer in Ashby. Pelican Lake. Came to the deterimination that the only 2 Walleyes that were in the lake were already caught1 Put on the spinner baits and had fun catching snakes and Green Carp…Yes I know the Green Carp were out of season. Could not keep them off the hook. So Walleyes 1 Chapmans 0…

Since I retired I no longer fish on opening weekend. Wait until Monday (today) as I pretty much have the lake to myself.

Fishing in Albert Lea has been slow so far for Eyes. Not much happening at all. Spent 5 hours out today. Caught Channel Cats, Small Northern’s, perch and sunfish. So it wasn’t a wash, but they were not jumping in the boat.

We didn’t get out on the water, but we went to Cabela’s and went shopping!

Had my best opener to date. Got on the water about 5:30, cold, wind and rain. Fished with crawlers and had 3 keepers in the first hour. Went in and picked up the father in law, fished till 5 pm with an extended lunch break and had two nice limits to show for it. Everyone else I talked to was fishing minnows and had no fish to show for it. It was nice to have had the right rigging for once. Fished with slow death in 12-18 fow. Bad weather is no match for good fishing.
