22 x 28 Cedar with posts, spindles and top cap on 3 sides.

2 steps to ground with posts, spindles and top cap.

Needs to be power washed and would like to remove the old

stain totally with a deck wash if possible.

How much should one expect to pay to hire this out?

    Thanks!

Well you can’t stain the same day you strip.Thats two trips at least.Best guess for a quality job $1000 to $1500.

I would say $1200-$1400 is ballpark. I’ve had great luck with Roof-to-Deck restorations if you decide to hire it out. They do my deck every 3 years or so.

Stripping and washing it twice, let it dry for a few days. With out seeing it $1800.00 is what I would charge

I have not had good luck just using a power washer on my ceder deck. It has a transparent stain. The power washer doesn’t remove all the old stain evenly. It sucks to sand it, but that is what I’ve been doing before restaining. This is at the top of my ‘honey do’ list this summer.

Have you tried using a stripper on your deck?

A great way to make some money to pay for the deck maintenance. My problem is the music keeps me up all night, and that glitter EVERYWHERE.

Had a buddy rent a floor sander on his cedar 2×6’s that were pretty weather checked. Came out nice after we drove all the nails down and then screwed it.

I would use Sherwim Willaims Deckscape or Woodscapes for the new finish. Been having good results and longevity from these products.

Also, if its cedar, make sure you remove any old grey looking material. Gray cedar is decay material and nothing will last long on it.

I have not tried using any strippers on the deck. I’d be interested in hearing if they work.

Tip them well enough and they might.

If you want a stripper to work the best on a deck, you need to install a good quality pole

funny, so with this stripper, do you recommend a wood or a composite wood for a pole?
