OK, i know this is about pocket change, but it still irks me to buy $5+ of minnows (you don’t want to be caught running out of bait during a hot bite do you???)

and then pour them out on shore…

So does anybody have a system for saving them at home?? Basement aerator?? Bathtub circulator??

i keep mine in an insulated minnow bucket and throw an areator in it! i also change the water every 2 days! i have filtered water threw the refridgerator and just put them right into that water and have never had a problem. but if using sink water let sit for 24 hours so all chemicals can evaporate! ive kept mine alive for weeks at a time!!!

    good luck

I keep my in the garage beer fridge and change the water every 2 days. Works like a charm!

I use a cooler and keep it aerated in the basement. I also use bait additive witch I finds keeps them alive longer then without. I change the water once a week with no problems.

I used to do the cooler and aerator, but have since grabbed a free non-working chest freezer off CL. Siliconed the seams inside, added a pet store aerator, in the process of piping an old canister filter from an aquarium I had sitting around. The chest is in the backyard in a shady corner by the house dug into the ground a little for cooling reasons. If the water gets too bad I just use a five gallon bucket to change it out gradually. Also use the de-chlor conditioner drops from the pet store too. I love it becasue I often make last minute plans and having bait is one less stop.

i keep them in my bait tank at home with my bullies. and keep my leeches in a leech tamer in the same tank, and my crawlers in a jumbo worm farm container in basement.

going to be building a new 100 – 150 gallon tank this weekend!

I use an old 20 gallon aquarium with pump/filter system. Keeps minnows alive for months. You could probably find one for free on CL.

depends on the size and quantity of bait. I use coolers with 12 volt bubblers/pumps for the most temporary and mobile applications and a chest freezer for the main tank at home.

Winter time the chest freezer is off, but that is going to change this year

If the wife will allow it just put them in a tuperware in the fridge and change the water weekly. They will live for ever. I had minnows all winter using this approach. The bait guy in town told me the secret
