i am having problems with my pdv2 motor. it is a 2009 model and just ran off waranty. the third control board has gone out of it and after arguing with minnkota i’m having a hard time buying 1 if it’s only going to last a few months like the last 2. wondering if others are having problems with this part if it’s a junk part or just my bad experience. highly dissapointed and just want to get my motor fixed and working like a thousand dollar motor should work… thanks for any feedback guys!

I had a Board fry in my older PD but I belive my boss hooked it up backwards or something.

Anyway, the IDO fellas reccomended Motor Clinic in Bloomington, MN to me. Took it there and they fixed me right up.

It might be a drive for you but these guys know their stuff. Maybe give them a call to see if they know of any issues. -Mark

burnt out 3 boards? I would think something is not wired right… getting a backfeed when something else is turned on? charging batteries with it plugged in? something is up. Depending on where you are buying the boards from what is there warranty on just the part? good luck man!

I would call ahead and take it to Johnson outdoors in Mankato. They are good to work with and will right your situation.

I’ve had my Minnekota to Motor Clinic 2 or 3 times now. I’ve never been disappointed with their service.

Gosh, to me it sounds like a problem you experienced while it was under warranty that hasn’t been fixed. Is there a new warranty on the board when you get those? I am sure you have thought of all this, just rambling.

My buddy Mark (norseman) had his steering cable break on his Minnkota during pre-fishing for the Okoboji Open. It broke Friday morning so he called Johnson Outdoors. They said if we had it to them by 11:00 AM they would be able to fix the problem. We were there at 10:45 to get the cable replaced. They not only replaced the cables, they replaced the entire shaft, bearings, wiring harness and lower head cover and only charged him $60.00. Now if that isn’t great customer service, I don’t know what is. They were fantastic.

spoke to friend in the repair of minnkota motors and he advised that the motor is probably drawing to many amps for some reason stuck brush–moisture etc. he said he would look in to the motor itself for this problem after the first board was replaced-snagged
