raising your own nightcrawlers question

    could someone direct me to a thread, book, artical or website with simple directions for raising crawlers for my own use.

    I don’t know anyone that raises them. I know lots of guys that pick them. If you go out during the right conditions, you can pick 12 dozen in less than an hour.

    I pick my own nitecrawlers up. I use a frabill bedding and frabill worm food. I keep them in my fridge in my garage. Make sure the temp is not to cold or you will freeze them.

    i agree with the last post spend $ 15 and buy a crawler cooler and the bedding ..keep in the fridge for the entire season..add some coffee grounds a week before you use them and thet get nice and fat

    I read on the Jewell Outdoors website that you should add peat moss to the bedding.

    not sure who told me to add the coffee but it works and get the crawlers all worked up too

    Careful when using coffee grounds or eggs shells. To much will actually add heat to your bedding. Been there and done that

    Asa kid we always dumped our trim bucket into the crawler bed. It was heavy on coffee grounds. Best crawlers I’ve ever had.

    8:48 am on sat… the crawlers are on the move!!! The boys are harvesting right now.
