My friend Jerry went mushroom hunting 2 days ago and found alot of very small greys, he left them there. The size was about the size of popcorn seed, anyone else running into this. He says thier there but we need some sun and he thinks were going to have a better year then last if we can just get some sun to warm everything up including the ground. Sunday through Wednesday it’s going to be sunny here then they should pop. Hows the finds going on this latitude, is southern Iowa getting any, the missouri border is three weeks ahead of us here,,,

My concern for my area is that the weeds will get very high before the morels pop out. We need some warm temps soon withy this moisture.

I am in SW Wiscosnin and found a few Monday night 04-26. Mostly thumb size. I agree without some warm weather soon, we will lose the battle to underbrush again.

I’m in west central IL. were doin pretty well i’ve picked almost 400 in the last 2 weeks, Tues we had a good pick’n 157 mushrooms picked both greys & yellow, went and did some door knock’n at some places that i used to go to back in the 90’s, lost permission because someone died (owners) & got permission to go back in them!! It was really a good day and didn’t even go mushrooming but just spent time talking with the new owners & relatives at the other place just talk’n about old times! But if we pick any mushrooms & were gonna i’m giving these folks the 1st bag!! Good Luck Shroom’n!!

Very east central Iowa, just north of Clinton. I went out for about 4 hours on Wednesday, found 14 by one tree and that was it. Went to another timber on Thursday, walked for 5 hours and found 16 again by one tree. Both places were southwest facing and not much cover, actually direct sun. Ground still feels cold, need some warm days, lots of sun and no cool breeze and things look ready to go.

Went out today in Central Iowa and found 3 dozen mix of grays and yellows. Groups of 5-6.
