Ma and I went to a VFW fishfry last night and one of their tv’s had The Weather Channel on showing live coverage of a huge tornado crossing part of Birmingham, Alabama. A reporter outside covering this from a few miles away was pelted with shingle debris and pieces of broken glass as this storm passed.
As coverage switched back to a station radar screen, the storm system being watched suddenly developed two more hooks in the red mass behind the tornado already hitting the city and sure enough when the camera shot went back outside you could see the two new funnels developing, but neither came to the ground.
This was spellbinding to watch but at the same time you just knew people were going to suffer and maybe even die. Our prayers for these people started when the funnel came down last night at dinner time.
