I remember a discounted class for IDO members last year, is there anyone offering this again?

Not at this time.
We need about 10+ people for a class. Then take a look at where everyone is at and figure out a location.
After this post, I know of two that are interested.

Shoot me some info on this class. The wife and I have been talking about getting it done.
April 27, 2011 at 5:17 pm #961224OT- Are they talking about reciprocity between MN and WI re CC? Presume it would not extend to CC Certification…

Concealed carry is not legal in wisconsin, although, they are trying to push it through this year. Open carry is “allowed” in wisconsin, due to a loophole. that is try at your own risk though…

Open carry is also allowed in MN. But open carry and expect people to NOT mind there own business!
April 27, 2011 at 5:45 pm #961245For those of you who are pressed for time and have busy weekends planned. Metro Gun and Pawn in Richfield has an occasional weeknight class that runs from 6 to about 10pm. They don’t have breaks or lunch hours planned so they can get through everything in the time they have. They do have a bit stricter criteria for passing the shooting test portion and if you fail there probably won’t enough time to retake the shooting test that night. They do the course at the Edina/Hennipin county training center in Edina.
It’s a Minnesota permit to carry class…..nothing to do with concealment.

sailorPosts: 15April 27, 2011 at 6:18 pm #961261I recently obtained my MN and Utah permit via the training at url below.

I was very satisfied. If I recall correctly, my instructor was a LEO for 32 years. It is a no frills/thrills class and gets the job done with qualification immediately following. They used Bills gun range in circle pines for my class and taught the course about a mile away. They also provided discounts for x military if you have a copy of your old dd214.
I recently bought at Cabelas (great package price at the time) a Ruger LCP gun package. I was carrying my 1911 with IWB holster but love the pocket pistol with nemesis holster – it goes with me just about everywhere, including fishing. I also bought a discounted portable gun safe at the training and use it when in wisconsin or when stopping by the post office, etc.

April 27, 2011 at 6:31 pm #961264I don’t know the difference between “MN permit to carry” and a “concealed carry” class
Also, I don’t know what someones brother, the BCA Certified instructor charges…but I bet it’s not the $60 the Ido Members from our BCA Certified instructor charges.
The instructor must be BCA certified to give the classes…or you don’t get a “permit to carry” in MN.
How you chose to carry (concealed or open) is totally up to the individual in MN.
I’ll get a hold of the instructor tonight and see what we can arrange.

actually, people have been quite receptive to it so far.
April 27, 2011 at 7:30 pm #961285ouch….
he is much more “refined” than me….
and for anyone contemplating on what class to take. the one that brian offers, is through the same instructor that taught me, and it is a first rate class also!

aren’t you supposed to be on your way to LOTW by now?
April 27, 2011 at 8:18 pm #961304Yes, you were first on the list Ryan S.
Thought I forgot about you?
April 27, 2011 at 8:22 pm #961305I would love to take the class, but I don’t even own a hand gun. Or properly named a side firearm.

Just to clarify that statement. Yes, you can open carry in Minnesota with a permit to carry. You can carry open in Wisconsin with no permit, license or training. However, Wis does not issue permits to carry concealed to law abiding citizens.
