Anybody seen this yet. Was down carp fishing yesterday. Looks like the North arm of the lake got hit pretty hard with winterkill. Didn’t see as many dead fish in other locations. In an area of only a few hundred feet I saw 10 or more dead bass that were probably between 4- 6.5 Lbs., one huge dogfish, and tons of smaller bass and panfish.

Winter doesn’t kill fish. Fish kill fish.

I dropped my boat in Twin Lake in Crystal last week and found a similar kill. Sooo many dead carp and crappies along with a few bass, bowfin, and bluegills mixed in.

It was a real pleasant smell, too. I used one of the carp as a keel guard when I beached my boat…accidentally.

Lots of snow on top of ice is usually the problem.

Not surprising with the winter we have had, I mean are having. A kill like that might be good for some lakes though, but it will take a few years to see the benefits.

Seriously?? I live like 2 blocks from upper twin and I fish lower twin when I’m uber bored and don’t have time for anything else.

I should go check and see how Ryan’s doing… it’s been super susceptible to winter kill the last few years. It was a 20-species lake at one point, but it’s been sad the last several.
