Just got a call from a buddy of mine here in eastern Iowa…a guy that works for him just showed him 10 fresh little gray shroons ! The “biggest” was about an 1 1/4″ tall.

P.S. and warning…To that turkey hunter at the base of that big dead elm where I go shroon hunting ( YA YOU !!! )… don’t you even think of grabbing my leg this year when I don’t see you…that was just wrong, you just don’t to that to people carrying sticks.

Yes, we have the moisture and all we need now is some warmer temps.

I have the next month set aside just for shroom picking.

I remember finding these huge shrooms in my yard at my old place. I thought, I think guys eat these, just before I wacked em’ up with my weed whip. Not joking.

Back when I was a little guy, just after the Dutch Elm Disease went thru, there were 2 big elms in our houseyard that threw a ton of mushrooms out…but my mom ( who gets sick when she eats them) MOWED them down cause they were no good to eat…there were tons of them !!!
