Looking to change the oil in this GM 4.3
I have the tools and I know they recommend quick silver
products. Will a good oil work instead and if not why?
The oil filter are these specially made for boats? or can you cross refrence to a fram? Plugs and wire any thing w/ a cross ref. or are they special also. Just alittle tune up before pool 4 outing. Just looking for options if they are there. Thanks

I just ran Valvoline in mine however I did get the marine grade filter, I think the marine grade filter is better at absorbing water. I went with the same plugs and wires that were in the boat just bought new ones. I believe the Marine grade stuff keeps the water repelled better

I always use a quality full synthetic oil in the recommeded viscosity. Valvoline or Mobile 1 for example. Do your boat a favor and don’t use Fram filters. Wix or Napa gold are good filters as well as the factory GM. You will probably only change oil and filter once a year that is why I like to use the full synthetic and quality filter. Also, it is hard to beat the NGK spark plugs for replacements
