The team of Bob Devine and Steve Velte hooked into something that would change them forever. While jigging on the Detroit River in the MWC.Tournament yesterday they came up with the body of a fisherman who had fallen through the ice some time ago. My heart goes out to Bob, Steve and the family of fisherman who’s body they recovered.

Tough deal there.. although it surely helped bring closure to the deceased mans family.

    Deep sympathy to all involved

This really gets to a guy. To know that someone died doing what he enjoyed doing and that 2 guys found him doing what they love doing. It is to bad that this has to happen. My advise to everyone, wear your life jacket whenever you are on the water. It will help insure you all make it home at night to your families. God bless all involved and may god be with you all in the future.

Other than dying in my sleep, actually I can’t think of a better way to go than while being on the water or ice doing what I love.

The only reason I have a jacket or throwable in the boat when by myself is because it’s the law.

In the early 80’s a guy next to me on North Pier in Racine pulled in a little girl that was missing from the tents at Salmon a Rama. Reading about this gave me an instant flash back. Very hard to shake the image out of your mind

Herb, obviously you’ve never had a near drowning experience or worked on someone who does drown. I would never wish that upon anybody. The sheer panic before a person passes out is unimaginable. As someone who’s brother drown and responded to drownings, there is nothing good about it.

I can’t imagine what those fisherman must have felt.

    Prayers for all involved.

Wade, you have no idea what I’ve experienced and seen in my time and you know absolutely nothing about me and I never said anything about wishing it for anyone else, so let’s just leave it at that.
