Will we see this line up before the year is over?

    Span CF
    Mauer RF
    Cuddyer 2B
    Morneau 1B
    Young LF
    Kubel DH
    Valencia 3B
    Butera C
    Tolbert SS

If the Twins are out of contention early I think this is a real possibility.

Mauer couldn’t handle right field. He would have to be wheeled out there & back each inning!!

It could happen. I wonder if it had Nishioka at 2B, can Cuddyer play at C ? He’s kinda built like a catcher.

If we see that lineup they will be lucky to win 70 games!!!

Not a chance. imo I think when Joe gets moved it’ll be an infield shift more than outfield.

So does he replace Morneau or Valencia? I assume he won’t play short or second.

Trade Cuddy for a reasonable prospect and a catcher. Put Mauer
in right and sit Sal’s kid. He is strictly a backup.

Cuddyer has minimal trade value. There are dozens of guys like him in MLB. Young (age) and Kubel (lefty w/ power) are the ones that will have to go.

The Twins need a pitcher, when Nishioka comes back, they can fill out a lineup several ways. I still think they’ll be back in the race come the end of August when their schedule balances out.

    Stay the course!

I agree with almost everything you say. Problem is by August this thing could be over. I’m not one to panic but that team looks lifeless lately. They get the big hit on Thursday and 2 closers gag the game away. Although I can’t fault Capps for the home run. That was a good pitch that Damon just golfed out.

Starting pitching has been excellent for the most part.

If I have to make a trade Liriano and Span are near the top of my list. Thome a bit later in the year will draw interest also.

Today’s big question is they can stay in striking distance until mid year.

That will not be the lineup later in the year alot of those guys will be gone in cost saving cuts. Mauer will be lucky to play 4 days a week Morneau will prove he has Corey Koskie syndrome from all the concussions and will be released, the pitching will only get worse. The few talented players we do have will be traded and maybe GARDY will finally be fired for being the loser of a manager that he is,he actually should have been fired after another embarassing play off loss to New York last year. My prediction Joe Mauer only plays 2-3 more seasons and his career will be over due to injuries. I believe the twins will be lucky to win 70 games and I thought that they would finish 3rd in their division ha.

Your statements about Gardy tell me a couple of things….

    1) You don’t know baseball.

    2) You don’t know baseball.

    3) You don’t know baseball.

Beyond that everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

I think the ‘good’ news in all of this is that the Mauer stuff is not injury related.

I’m not ready to jump ship on the season or Mauer’s ability to play catcher and stay healthy.

    We’ll be there Brian. Somehow.
