I am looking to take a family vacation this summer with my wife and three year old daughter. We are looking to to somewhere for about four days. I know that there are plenty of resorts out there, I am checking on some of these too, but am wondering if there are any ideas on other family vacation options. (eg itaska state park)

Thanks for any ideas you can provide

one good option i remember when i was a kid was nisswa. the wife and kids will love it with the little attractions but it’s still up north close to plenty of lakes and outdoors.
or… i would recomend lake vermilion for fishing and pure beauty of landscape. with this option u could stay at the casino too if your into that. hope this helps get the ideas started

I have taken my family to Spider Lake. It’s in Itasca County about 30min from Grand Rapids. Good fishing and nice lake. (Fishing is anything from Walleyes to crappies to Pike and Muskies and Bass…..)

Cragun’s on Gull lake have some great 3 and 4 day packages. Great fishing and lots to do for everyone. An indoor pool is a bonus in case the weather is bad. They have all kinds of activities and there is a zorbas pizza on the north side of Gull for a nite out. Been there!

Gunflint Lodge. Great activities. Depending on the package you may have access to a boat. SM fishing is fast paced. They have a lot of guieded naturalist activities that get the family out and exploring. Great food as well.

x3 for Vermilion. I love it there! If your thinking of going the camping route, McKinley campground is a great place, good boat launch, nice beach for the kids, staff is nice, town of Tower and the Sudan Mine is nearby. If you want to stay at a resort, Muskego Point Resort is a good one. The owners are some of the nicest people around and the resort is a great place for the whole family to get away and relax (the windswept cabin is my favorite at Muskego). Enjoy your vacation!

IMO it could be a very long week if momma and a 3 year old get cranky. Brainerd, Alex, Detroit Lakes all offer the up north feel along with things for the family to do when (not if) they get bored with fishing. Deer parks, water parks, petting zoo are a few things I would look for.

Have fun, there is a million places to go in Minnesota.

How about Duluth? Great fishing all around and plenty of things to do in the city.
