Anyone heading over to Big Green for Lakers on Sunday? Lake should be empty of people and my daughters itching to hook a few. If you see two lone bumps in the snow out there…..most likely us.

I won’t be there Randy but soon hope to be. How deep of water do you fish the lakers out of? I know it’s one of the deepest lakes in Wisconsin.
February 4, 2011 at 8:58 pm #93387280 to 120 has been the ticket for a couple guys I know that have been out. Anywhere from the bottom to 20feet below the ice. It will be my first trip up there in a long time. When your ready to make a run over this way, give a shout. Maybe meet up with you and record a laker strike with the new Marcum camera that will be on it way soon
February 5, 2011 at 1:40 am #933913not planned yet. Due to economics, I may scale it WAY back and do something closer to home. After so many years, I couldn’t imagine not doing it. Funny you asked though, I had a girl email me about it. She’s in college and was at the first year I organized one at Blackhawk lake. She was 6 years old then. I do have a lot of fun with it.
February 7, 2011 at 1:11 pm #934518So did you make it out on sunday, Randy? Hoping to see some motivational pictures, to help me get my butt back out on the ice.
February 8, 2011 at 5:41 am #934935No photo ops I would like to think its an acceptable excuse, I fell asleep standing there looking at the locator. Was up until almost 3:00 am, had to get my daughter when her bus came in from L-X, state dance comps. Slept until 4, then got up and ran up there. Had one clobber a 3/4oz green/chrome Mr. champ. Strange, I saw it swim up about 15 feet to hit it. Even with my rod bent over, I couldn’t muster up the energy to set the hook. Un-buttoned and was gone. That was the only fish Olivia and I had a reaction from. Marked a lot of fish in about 110 fow, anywhere from a few feet off the bottom to 10 feet below the ice. After about 10:00am, only marked about 1 every half hour and no other activity. We loaded up at about 2:30, took a nap, then drove home……
I worked 17 hours today, and I’ll be on this pace for the next week and a half to get this job done. When I can get out again, I’ll give you a call.

Too funny, you are right on the batteries!!! I hope I get a chance to show you some other spots on that bigger body of water where you did find fish or two!!!

February 18, 2011 at 2:50 am #938663You mean this lake….
“where you did find fish or two!!! ” and three, and four, and five, and six, and…..
If I could get James interested it would be a fun body of water to film a smallie show. Door county has a lot of nice smallies, but Big Lake X has TOADS!! Hopefully the end of May and first week of June I’ll be up there again. Work load will dictate a lot of what i get to do this year.
I wonder how things worked out for the kid I pulled out of there??? Scary that hypothermia had set in and he had all the classic signs….his dad din’t think it was a big deal and he would be fine. I still think about that from time to time. If Bethany and I hadn’t left when we did, that kid would have been dead.
February 18, 2011 at 5:50 pm #938893Yep that’s the lake!!! Here’s hoping we can get out there!!!
