Just curious. Where is Black Brook Flowage? There is a Black Brook Flowage up by Minong where I deer hunt. Never heard of anyone fishing that though, so I’m guessing it isn’t the one your asking about.

Its part of the apple river just south of amery. There a little dam and a couple hunderd acre lake. I’ve never done real great there but lots of smalish gills. Fun for the kids

That’s the one I was thinking about. I thought I found a new hotspot!

If you are looking to take your kids out ice fishing and have some fun, the lake I would recommend first would be White Ash, which is only about 10 miles north of the Black Brook Flowage. I fish this area every weekend, and WHite Ash is my go-to lake in terms of numbers relative to size for kids. Plus, if you were looking to have a little added bonus, set up some tip-ups for pike! They are THICK in the lake with good sizes too. I will also be out there on friday, so if you see a blue clam shelter out across from the west side landing, feel free to come say Hi, I would be happy to help!!!

PM me if you have any Q’s

Thanks for the info guys! I think I’ll avoid the flowage for now. I really dont like thin ice(even the sh.. floats). I may give white ash a try after lunch. Jake how long of a walk is it to a fishable spot? I thinking of bringing the clam and the heater for the boys. I’ll be the one looking lost with a 4 yr old and a 3 yr old getting skunked.

Jake, it was nice to meet you yesterday and thanks for the suggestion to fish there. Did the gills ever turn on? The boys and I had a small fish fry when we got home. You will surly see me back up there sometime this winter. Hopefully when its drivable with the truck.
