Very, VERY slow early this week. Before the cold front rolled in the smallies were deep on the reefs / rock humps. After the front we couldn’t find anything over 13”. We ran a marcum camera on the same areas that were kicking out 3 and 4 lb fish a few days earlier. Those larger fish were nowhere to be found. Wish I had better news for you although I’m sure the bite will pick up with the return of stable weather and warmer temps.

Well, yes and no. I was fishing with Gregg from Skeeter Boat Center. He was pre-fishing. I had the camera gear along in the hopes of getting on a great bite so we could get a show for IDO. We blanked this time around but we’ll be back in a few weeks.

We’re going back for round two just as soon as the fishing turns back around a bit. I loved the area and Gregg is a blast to fish with. With some luck we’ll get some good footage to share. That’s the plan anyway.

As for the new skeeters…. I’m not sure what is more impressive. The boats or the new Yamaha motors?! Combined they make an unbelievably stable fishing platform. I think more than anything, and this is coming from a walleye guy that goes fishing in some crazy waves, I was shocked at how well Gregg’s Skeeter handled 2 footers.

I’ll be following up with Gregg later in the week to see how the rest of his pre-fishing has gone for him. I know he can’t fish all that water but knowing Gregg he’s putting in the hours and the effort to come as close as humanly possible.
