got a last minute invitation to a friends cabin up there she’s on Mallard and i understand it’s very small and not great fishing. any suggestions on area lake. I will be fishing alone so any IDO folks who want to jump in are more than welcome.

I grew up there. Good sized bass the last couple of years out of Clam. Put in on HWY 70 East of town. Musky fish Yellow for a good time. There are a ton of smaller lakes in the area that will keep a bobber and worm chunk submerged all day long. Consider Mudhen lake West of town.

    SteveO,
I know a guy that pounds the crap out of big crappies on Mallard ice fishing. Big McKenzie isn’t far away either. You could go after Walleye or Muskie on that lake. Have a good weekend.

Haven’t figure out mallard… Haven’t seen a carppie in summer, but I haven’t gotten as much time to fish as I’d like, white spinner baits for pike, I’d like to know how you do, have a friend on the lake too. Small world

The Clam River offers some great shore fishing action for Walleyes and Catfish (Channels and GIANT Flatheads in there as well.)

SteveO, please let us know how you do. I’ll be on Clam Lake on 7/15 for about a week and I may try some area lakes. I was on Clam a few weeks ago and caught very little but it was tough to fish hard with the kids in the boat. This time the kids are staying with my parents so I’m up for anything. I’d love to hear suggestions anyone has on these area lakes. I’m very new to vacationing here and also new to this forum. I could use a little help!
Good luck and don’t forget to write back afterward.
