ANYBODY HAVE ANY TIPS FOR EYES THIS TIME OF YEAR? I’VE TRIED THE LAKE VARIOUS TIMES WITH MINIMAL RESULTS FOR WALLEYES. I WAS THINKING OF SEARCHING WITH LEADCORE. THE LAKE IS USUALLY VERY CLEAR, SO ONE WOULD THINK VERY DEEP DURING THE DAY, OR SHALLOWER IN LOW LIGHT. ANY THOUGHTS?

I havent been there lately, but was there about 3 weeks ago. I fish mainly the bays in heard lake, and a few of the cribs on the east side of the lake. The bays were not producing eyes like they should have been, but I believe that to be a water temp thing. The water was still cold and there wasnt much for weeds in there yet. They should be rocking now though. Slip bobber and small to medium leech will do the trick.
The cribs are pretty much always going. slip bobber and crawler or leech about a foot about the top of the crib will do.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!

Just like Beaver Dam lake in Cumberland I only fish Lower Long at night due to the clear water and boat traffic. Weekdays are a little better during the day but the fish can still be easily spooked due to the clear water. I have had my best luck at night on the rock bars and rocky shoreline in 2 to 5 fow with jigs/minnow or leech and mepps with silver blade.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. LONG AND BEAVER DAM ARE BOTH TOUGH NUTS TO CRACK.

i didnt have much luck when i was up there(no suprise ) but one of the locals pulled cranks right at dusk in 10-15feet and said he got a few. some divers(snorklers) found various cribs south of the girls scout camp loaded with eyes. its a tough lake for me.

Can’t wait to hit that body of water in spring 2011. Won’t make it back this year. Awesome lake
