Someone please tell me that the fish are biting somewhere! Any type of fish from northern to gills. It seems to me that in the past two weeks the fishing has really died down. I was out myself last weekend and the fishing went from great the weekend before to dead. Some of my buddies were out on moon lake i believe today and had one flag (which was not a taker) and caught maybe a half dozen small perch. I hope to hear some encouraging news.

I was up on Bone Lake sunday and we caught a pile of perch. Now these weren’t jumbos, but they weren’t bad either. The action and the size definately made the trip worthwhile. We had action the whole time we were there and even brought some home for the fry pan. I’ve heard they are getting a lot of northerns on White Ash. In fact we were considering that as a back up plan if Bone fizzled out. That is really all I know of at this time.

I know where they are catching walleyes through the ice within an hour of Eau Claire night fishing(and doing good), if I gave the name of the lake my buddies would not be my buddies no more. That being said yes there is still good fishing to be had, try lakes that dont normally recieve pressure, small lakes and ponds

    Hey Coot-

Where about where you fishing on Bone? Any special presentation needed to catch the perch? I was up there a few years ago, and caught piles of small perch, nothing special was needed to get them to cooperate either. If I am going fishing this weekend, I’ll be inside of a shanty, that is for sure!!

Any info would be extremely helpful!!

The area we were fishing was in the southern half of the lake. We were just a little north and west of the biggest island. Probably about halfway between the island and the west shore. Water depth was approx. 32′. The best presentations were jiging spoons – Swedish Pimples & Forage Minnows with minnow heads – & glow teardrops baited w/minnows below an ice buster bobber. You can check out the report I did for Bone Lake on the reports section of this site also. I included a pic in my report of the baits we were using so you can get an idea of size & color as well. Good luck if you head up there & stay warm.
