Why can’t people just do alittle work and walk?

The key word work I know I am getting tired of dragging my heavy shack and gear all over the snow and up and down hills which brings me to my next post…..

Excellent point this lake has fantastic access right in the middle of the lake. A guy can fish the middle channel, the cribs or the flats to the east with an easy walk in any direction. I had heard Saturday during the day there was a guy by the cribs before this. I will not fish this lake because guys take your life into there hands with there own stupidity…

I stared in disbelief as I witnessed a small mini-van drive out on Cook’s Bay…West end of Minnetonka on Friday night. 7 inches of ice maximum.

Jonny P., Joel Nelson and I were in a local bar up on URL this week and got to listen to a bar patron carry on about how crappy he thought it was that one of the local ice road owners wouldn’t let him drive his one ton diesel pulling a mega-shack out several miles on the ice so he could get fishing.

We found as little as 6″ of ice in some spots on URL the following day.

People with more money than brains will kill themselves if you let them. This guy owes his truck and shack, and possibly his life, to the “bossy” ice road owner that wouldn’t let him pass.

I was doing a bit of scouting last tues in NW WI & finding 6″-10″of ice on 3 different(Smaller)shallow bodies of water I was on.The temps were sub-0 with windchills lets say very frigid.I stopped by a favorite smaller lake 500 Acre which is fairly deep 80’+ & here is a couple guys with a 1T Crew cab pushing their limits! They had a 4 wheeler in the box yet they wanted to get out on ice far enough so they didnt need to remove it to set out their tip ups. They were only in about 3′ of water when they finally stopped.Which drops quickly on to a 20’sand shelf before plummeting into 60’+.I sat at the landing in disbeleif shaking my head. After watching for a few mins it was time to move on. Stupidity can get you no where but in trouble.

I agree. I think I lost a pound today hauling my shack and 800 lbs of gear. I’m now down to a slim 262

A truck when through on the Wis. river near Merrill today and one by Wausau yesterday. The one by Merrill looked to be only 6″ of ice. They were just getting it out when I drove by (on the highway of course).

That story is terrible, I used to work 5 minutes from that lake, very big and shallow. Know for the birds that kept large portions of the lake open- ducks and geese. People need to take a big breath and just walk….
