I could use some advice guys. I’m going to be at the in-laws cabin this weekend near the town of Turtle Lake, WI. I will definitely be getting some fishing in this weekend as I am bringing my boat and will be searching out some decent walleye and or crappie fishing.

I’ve got the area lake map book. Would any of you guys mind sharing recommendations of lakes I should focus my attention on in that area? I’d appreciate any help. Thanks.

Not sure how far you are willing to travel, but I’ll be at my cabin in the area this weekend as well. I will be fishing Big Round for walleyes on Sat/Sun/Mon. It is my favorite in the area, but don’t expect it to produce like the Croix or ole Miss. My next choice would be Balsam. Lots of structure, but tends to get busy with recreational boats later in the day. Next would be Wapogasset west of Amery and is a very good lake for walleyes. Twin lakes and Pike lake in Amery are sleepers. I’ve not fished them, but I’ve heard they have good populations of walleyes. Good luck and let us know where you go and how it went. If you go to Big Round and see a Black Lund Explorer with a merc on the back stop by and give me a holler.

An hour drive or so does not bother me. Those are all within that timeline. Thanks.

Right at the edge of your 1-hour window is Lake Wissota. Walleyes are turning on nicely and the smallies are heading to the beds. Plus, you can give that Side Imaging unit a good workout!

Drop me a PM if you’d like some pointers to get you started.
