Have had a rough go in my limited trout outings this winter. Today was no exception. I had to be home by 2:00, as the wife had to be to work by 3. I was an hour away from home, and the wind and snow were blowing like crazy. I wanted to give myself some extra time to get home, as I knew how the roads would be. I set up an automatic fisherman with a crappie minnow, and began jigging with waxies. I marked a few but no takers. Soon it was about 12:15, and I decided I had better pack it up. Just for giggles I began jigging my minnow. I began getting hits instantly. It wasn’t long before I had two really nice brookies on the ice. Also missed a few more. I have a feeling I will be heading over that way again tomorrow. Ice fishing for trout is a blast!
