Met up with a few buddy’s for the weekend for some snowmobiling and ice fishing, we stay on Lower Greshem lake. This lake is rather small and shallow, the fish seemed to be rather turned off the first day out. After soaking tipups in front of Uncle Jed’s cabin I pulled them in the evening and every minnow was dead except for one, needless to say we had a lack of oxygen in the water- time to move on. Well there must be 500 lakes within a ten mile radius of Uncle Jed’s shack but Greshem is actually a chain, the lakes are relatively private with alot of public land- if that makes sense. Limited landings make access to Middle Greshem tough. The river that connects the two lakes was not froze over so we sent out a re-con mission to find a path through the public woods. The mission was a success, the guys found the lake with a group of guy’s who just happen to be chasing a tipup as they pulled up. Lets load up the sleds and go! This lake is so secluded and with so many other lakes in the area there is not even a lake map on it so we had little topo knowledge but one in our party had fished it last summer, so we set up on the opposite side of the only island on the lake were the other group was fishing and bingo. For two days we hammered decent size gils topping out at 8.5″ and bass topping out at 19+”. It was a blast, here’s a few pics…
