I believe the opening is this weekend. Just wondering if anyone is going to get out after some real lunkers. Remember to pick up a tag at your local license dealer. I’m hoping to get one of those beasts in the boat this year. Steve

I’ll be heading out on the St.Croix a couple times in the up coming weeks. Seen so real hogs come out of the afton area in the past years.

A friend of mine had a 42″ off shore on kinney 2 weeks ago with on a lindy with a crawler harness. From what I hear it even interrupted his adult beverage consumption for 20 minutes.

I foul hooked a 36″er on the Flambeau this weekend. 25 minutes before my 8 lb line broke. What a ride in a canoe.
    Powerful, powerful fish.

Hi guys, Thought I would update this thread as I was out last Thursday on the Chippewa. We tried crawlers and cut bait (rainbow trout) floaters from the Eat My Fish trout farm. The water tem was still in the upper 70’s and the sturgeon were not taking either baits. We stuck with it for about four hours but no takers. So I guess the water needs to cool down some? So the score is Sturgeon one Leinie 0. I may go down later and check the smallie bite from shore. Steve

Fished the Wausaukee area for the first time for sturgeon with a buddy and his son. In a day and a half we boated 41 sturgeon and numerous suckers. Biggest fish were two 47″ and one 41″ No legals at 50″ or better. All on crawlers. Great time and will definitly do again.
