Well I finally found some Walleyes Out on Middle Eau Claire…

But its kind of a head shaker to me! We started off the day trying to catch our first muskie. And that was about 5 hours of wrist wrenching fun but never saw a fish! We pretty much casted the hole lake shoreline nothing not even a bass.

After that we sat out on the big hump in the middle of the lake and bobber fished, but that didnt last long when I opened up the rod box to get the bobber poles I saw the leadcore.

Well when I sat there looking at that bobber and not even a wave to let me loose vision of it once….I did it!

I tried the core in the clear water with that thick line, Im thinking to myself this is never going to work..

And BANG theres a fish and another. It was great!!! I put on some I would say 15ft leaders of 10pd Fireline and trolled #5 shad raps in 15 feet and the eyes were loving it! Firetiger was our ticket! We ended up with 15 eyes and 3 MUSKIE.

Here is a pic of the wife with her first leadcore walleye.. She always would rather catch the Rays from the front of the boat then the fish, but I guess Mike and I looked like we were haveing to much fun and they had to join In.

And here Is a pic of one of the three. Angie brought this one to the boat with the 5 ft leadcore rod..It looked kinda like a noodle with a reel on it when this fish took off..
She fought it like a champ!!
We took a pic and put it back in the water I didnt measure it! Whats your guess??

Thanks Dean, the sunkin island we were talking about at the bait shop didnt have any weeds on it like it did last year so we didnt fish it to much..
But some of the fish cribs were doing well!

It looks to be a low to mid-30’s class fish near the 10# range. It also appears, by the broken bars and spots, to be a tiger muskie. Very rare by today’s standards because WI abandoned it’s Tiger Muskie stocking program about 10 years ago. Tigers do occur naturally but are EXTREMELY rare because northern pike and muskie are so distant in their spawning time tables.
